COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has extended INEOS and its partners’ Hejre permits, 5/98 and 1/06, in the North Sea from 2040 to February 14, 2047.
They include the HP/HT Hejre oil and gas field, 300 km from Demark’s west coast. According to the DEA, there are special circumstances relating to project development delays that justify the license extensions.
In 2011, the DEA approved a plan for the expansion and operation of the Hejre Field. But the development has been set back by technical and quality challenges related to construction of the Hejre platform, which led to the work being interrupted in 2016. So the field has only been partially developed.
Since 2016, the licensees have reassessed the production potential and prepared an alternative technical and commercial proposal for the completion of the development. This is based on a reduction in reserves and a shorter production period compared to the original estimates from 2011, with profitable production now seen as likely after 2040.
INEOS E&P A/S operates licenses 5/98 with a 100% interest and has an 80% operated stake in 1/06, the remainder held by the state’s Nordsøfonden.
Hejre Field, which has been partially developed, is mainly in permit but with a potential overlap into 1/06.
