LONDON — IOG has issued an update on its newly onstream Blythe H2 gas well in the UK southern North Sea and future development options in the Saturn Banks area.
H2 initially tested at 42 MMcf/d after a faulty downhole valve was fully opened, and rates have since stabilized at 32 MMcf/d.
Reservoir quality appears to be superior at H2, with indications of communication between the H2 and H1 area, and no sign so far of formation water production from H2.
The Shelf Drilling Perseverance jackup rig has now demobilized from Blythe.
IOG is continuing its reevaluation of the Southwark gas field where there were problems with the initial development wells A1 and A2. Nailsworth and Elland subsurface and deliverability will undergo further technical review in light of the Southwark A2 findings.
The Goddard prospect is due to be appraised by March 31, 2024, under the license terms and the IOG-CalEnergy Resources (UK) joint venture is now making up to 50% available for farm-out.
At Elgood, the company is targeting further production from the existing well by 2024 from limited remaining reserves. Subject to funding, a successful dual-lateral appraisal well on the Kelham North and Central structures could open up the Southern Cluster, which includes the Abbeydale and Orrell gas discoveries.
On the P2589 license (part of the Central Cluster), subsurface studies indicate two discovered gas opportunities (Grafton and Tenby) with development potential as subsea tiebacks to the Southwark platform, 17 km to the southwest. Work has also identified further exploration prospects on the block, named Forest Row and Brockley.
