WALLSEND, UK – Shepherd Offshore has assumed ownership of the former Swan Hunter site on the River Tyne in northeast England.
Previously the yard built subsea structures for EMAS Chiyoda Subsea and performed design work for Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit.
The Swans Energy Park, as the site is now known, has a capacity of 31.96 acres, with access roads, two quays, two river berths, a wet berth facility and vacant buildings, and is close to companies located at the Offshore Technology Park.
According to Shepherd, the site provides access from the Tyne to producing oil and gas fields in the North Sea and wind farm developments such as Dogger Bank, Hornsea, and Firth of Forth.
Bruce Shepherd, chairman, said: “The company’s strategy is to attract businesses associated within the offshore, subsea, marine and energy sectors to the Swan Hunter site to continue enhancing the region’s expertise.”
