MELBOURNE, Australia  OMV has completed a repair of the MN1 oil production well at the Maari/Manaia field offshore New Zealand.

According to partner Cue Energy Ltd., the well is back in service with test data indicating production of about 800 bbl/d. It had been offline since May 2022 for installation of a new electric submersible pump.

The Maari and Manaia oil fields are in petroleum mining permit (PMP) 38160 in the Taranaki Basin, 80 km offshore New Zealand. Gross production is now above 5,000 bbl/d.

Cue CEO Matthew Boyall said, “Concurrently, we are actively pursuing production optimization projects in the field, including the conversion of the MR2 well into a permanent water injection well, which is in the final planning stages.”
