AUSTRALIA — DIRECT Infrastructure, a new Australian-based offshore wind developer, was created to pursue Australia’s offshore wind, according to a June 13 company news release.
DIRECT is initially delivering three large-scale floating offshore wind generation and storage projects in Australia with 6 GW to 9 GW combined capacity. DIRECT anticipates additional adjacent geographic markets to follow.
Former Woodside Petroleum CEO Peter Coleman has been appointed to chair DIRECT Infrastructure to helm its multibillion-dollar plans to become a big player in the growing sector, according to June 21 news reports.
The company was co-founded by Brendan M. Warn and Jacob Jonker. Warn is a former oil and gas analyst with Macquarie, and Jonker is a former Rio Tinto senior executive. The managing directors recently appointed Peter J. Coleman as independent non-executive chair and Guy Outen as independent non-executive director of the board; both Coleman and Outen are energy industry veterans.
