SINGAPORE Jadestone Energy has issued updates on development programs at its producing fields offshore northwest Australia and Peninsular Malaysia.

During H1 2021, a 16-day unplanned shutdown took place on the Montara FPSO to replace valves installed when the vessel was first constructed. The replacements should last for the field’s remaining life.

The jackup Valaris 107 started drilling the H6 development well in late June. During the initial attempt to drill the horizontal section, mechanical issues with downhole equipment forced a deviation from the planned well path, leading to a side track, with the subsequent 1,200-m (3,937-ft) horizontal section in the reservoir encountering good quality oil-bearing sands.

Following completion operations, the well will be tied in to the Montara infrastructure, with the rig then conducting the Skua 11 and 10 workovers.

Production from the Stag oilfield, 60 km (37 mi) offshore Western Australia, continues to be impacted by a backlog of workovers that has built up due to COVID constraints, but this program should be completed by the end of the year.

Offshore Malaysia, Jadestone concluded a transaction last month to acquire various assets from SapuraOMV: the PSCs PM323 and PM329 PSCs (operated), and non-operated interests in PM318 and AAKBNLP.

PM329 PSC contains various fields 230 km (143 mi) northeast of Terengganu, all of which have been developed via fixed wellhead and central processing platforms. The other two licenses contain the Abu, Abu Kecil, Bubu, North Lukut, and Penara oilfields.

Jadestone sees near-term scope for reservoir optimization and production enhancement in the operated licenses through gas reinjection and restoring idle wells to production.

Its initial focus will initially be on infill drilling in the medium heavy-oil East Belumut field within the PM323 PSC, similar to Stag where the company has been increasing recovery through tightening of the well pattern.

There are also some targeted opportunities on the East Piatu and West Belumut fields, which will be evaluated in parallel with the East Belumut infill potential.
