PARIS -- Total has agreed to acquire an 85% operated interest in block SK317B, offshore Malaysia, in partnership with Petronas Carigali.
The concession is 100 km (62 mi) offshore Sarawak, in water depths of 200-1,000 m (656-3,280 ft), and covers an area of over 700 sq km (270 sq mi). Work commitments during the exploration period include seismic data acquisition and deep offshore exploration drilling.
Total currently has a Production Sharing Agreement in the country with Petronas Carigali covering blocks PM303 and PM324, offshore peninsular Malaysia. Seismic was acquired over the blocks in 2009, followed by high-pressure/high temperature exploration drilling.
