SAN ANTONIO -- Global Industries is showcasing its new heavy lift/pipelay vessel Global 1200, at the Subsea Tieback Forum and Exhibition (SSTB) in San Antonio, Feb 22-24. The vessel recently underwent pipelay trials before embarking on its maiden job in Dubai. The Global 1200 successfully laid a mile of 36-in. concrete-coated pipe off the coast of Singapore.

The company says the 533-ft Global 1200 will be followed by a sister ship, the Global 1201, later this summer. The 1200 can handle pipe up to 60-in. diameter and can lay pipe in depths to 10,000 ft. It has a DP-2 system, but can also work in shallow water with a four-point mooring system.
