COPENHAGEN -- Maersk Oil has restarted gas production and export from the Tyra East field in the Danish North Sea, following a temporary shutdown.

The field was shut in on Oct. 15 after Maersk discovered that clamps holding a boat fender to the platform jacket had developed cracks. If the fender broke free, it could have collided with the gas export line.

Over the weekend, the fender’s connection to the platform was reinforced, with production since restored at normal rates.

Tyra East is the main gas export hub to mainland Denmark, accounting for 90% of gas production of the Maersk-led DUC consortium.
