OSLO, Norway – DNO International has issued an update on the blockage in the pipeline connecting the West Bukha and Bukha fields in block 8, offshore Oman, which the company first reported last month.
The blockage occurred during a routine pigging operation. However, diagnostic surveys indicate there is no mechanical damage to the pipeline, and have identified the problematic section as being close to the Bukha platform.
DNO is working to restore the line to normal operation, and preparations are under way to replace a section of the line should this prove necessary. In that case, production would be restored in around three months.
Otherwise, theWest Bukha-5 development well has entered the Thamama reservoir at a depth of 4,424 m (14,514 ft). The well is designed to drill a 600-m (1,968-ft) horizontal section, of which about half has been completed.
The forward plan is to drill the remaining part of the horizontal section, flow test the well, and complete the well as a producer.
