Managing director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh told news service Shana the total volume injected has risen in recent years from 200,000 b/d to 420,000 b/d. Followingcommissioning of several new projects next year, this rate will increase by a further 110,000 b/d.
Zirakchianzadeh added that implementation of simultaneous water and gas injection at the offshore Doroud field should lift hydrocarbons recovery from 23% to 33%.
At theSalman field, where the recovery rate is more than 50%, water and gas injection have been in place for more than 40 years.
