LONDON – Saudi Arabia’s Khurais and Manifa projects hold the most recoverable reserves among the world’s top 100 upstream developments, according to analysts GlobalData.
Reserves at the offshore Manifa field include 13.5 Bbbl of recoverable crude oil and 1.4 tcf (40 bcm) of gas.
Robert Stevens, GlobalData’s lead upstream analyst covering theMiddle East and North Africa, says operator Saudi Aramco and its contractors encountered numerous difficulties during the development.
These included environmental issues offshore such as potential earthquakes, which the facilities had to be designed to withstand during construction.
