LONDON – Salamander Energy says first oil has been stored in the newly converted FSO Suksan Salamanderthat serves the Bualuang field in the Gulf of Thailand.
This follows a general upgrade of the field’s facilities targeting a reduction in operating costs of up to $25 million/yr.
New power and processing modules were hooked up and commissioned on the Bualuang Bravo platform in May, and the FSO arrived on location in July. Following hook up and commissioning the vessel is now fully operational.
In addition to halving the day rate of the existing production vessel, the company says the upgrades have doubled water handling capacity, increased potential production rates, and extended the field’s productive life.
TheFPSORubicon Vantage will depart the field in the next few weeks.
