LONDON – Gas production has started from the Gajah Baru field in West Natuna Sea block A offshore Indonesia.
Operator Premier Oil says start-up was after ministerial consent came through to complete commissioning at an expected rate of up to 50 billion btu/d.
The previously announced gas swap documentation to deliver gas to domestic buyers is being completed.
Indonesia’s government has asked for this process to be completed by year-end, allowing a further 40 billion btu/d to be delivered to Indonesian gas buyers ahead of the planned pipeline on to Batam Island, in addition to the supplies committed to Singapore buyers.
Premier’s partners in the development are KUFPEC, Hess, and Petronas.
