ZWIJNDRECHT, the Netherlands – RWE Dea UK expects to achieve first gas next year from its Breagh and Clipper field developments in the southern North Sea.
Heerema Fabrication Group is building platforms for both projects. The 1,400-metric ton (1,543-ton) topsides for the Breagh has been moved out of the covered hall at the yard in Zwijndrecht, and should be ready for sail-away in mid-September.
The 85-m (279-ft) high, 4,000 mt (4,409-t) jacket should also be loaded out next month.
Breagh is in UK blocks 42/12a and 42/13a in 62 m (203 ft) water depth, 100 km (62 mi) east of Teesside, northeast England. Around 100 km of the associated 20-in. (51-cm) export pipeline have been laid offshore. The platform will be installed by Heerema Marine Contractors.
Clipper’s South platform has topsides weighing 1,900 mt (2,094 t) and accommodation for 40 personnel. It sailed out of the yard last Thursday and was installed at the field location on Saturday, with standalone overnight manning on the day of installation.
Water depth is 23 m (75 ft). A 12-in. (30.5-cm) pipeline will connect to the ConocoPhilips-operated transportation LOGGS complex for onwards delivery of gas to the Theddlethorpe terminal in Lincolnshire, eastern England.
Gross investments are $701 million for Breagh (the current Phase I) and $391 million for Clipper South.
