LONDON – Sterling Energy says oil production from the Chinguetti field offshore Mauritania has declined this year, in line with projections.
As the oil price continues to impact the project’s economics, the partners are working on a field decommissioning plan.
Last month Sterling signed a further agreement withTullow Oil to take a 13.5% interest in PSC C-10, which surrounds the Chinguetti field in water depths of 50-2,400 m (164-7,874 ft).
Mauritania’s government has approved the transfer, and should do the same soon for an assigned interest in C-10, Sterling adds.
