RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — Mooring and connection activities are underway for the FPSO Sepetiba at the deepwater Mero Field in the Santos Basin presalt, said operator Petrobras in its latest production update.
The platform, with a capacity to produce 180,000 bbl/d of oil and 12 MMcm/d of gas, should start operating by year-end 2023.
Earlier this week, the FPSO Almirante Barroso reached its nominal capacity of 150,000 bbl/d on the Búzios Field in the same basin, with three producing wells. The platform reached that figure 4.7 months after first oil, a record in the presalt.
The previous record was held by FPSO P-76, also operating at Búzios, which reached its nominal capacity in 7.7 months.
"The achievement of the record shows the high productivity of the wells in the field, and the asset also stands out for its low level of emissions, its substantial reserves and the high quality of the oil produced", said E&P director Joelson Mendes.
