CALGARY, Canada — Valeura Energy expects to mobilize a new mobile offshore production unit later this year to the Nong Yao oil field in the Gulf of Thailand, with development drilling starting soon afterward.
Installation has started of a new 3-km subsea pipeline that will connect the Nong Yao C system to the field’s existing production facilities.
Output from the field in license G11/48 rose recently following drilling of two horizontal infill wells, and the company plans further infill drilling to boost production and minimize the effect of natural declines.
After finishing the two infill wells, the contracted rig transferred to the Manora oil field in license G1/48 where it drilled three wells, all of which are now on production.
The added field output includes dry oil contributions from bypassed oil downdip of existing and currently producing wells in one of Manora’s deeper reservoir intervals, along with other attic/bypassed accumulations in the shallower reservoirs.
Results to date support potential new infill drilling campaigns in 2024 and 2025.
At the Wassana oil field, a review of the subsurface has identified other potential oil accumulations in a downdip portion of a fault block north of the main field. Valeura intends to drill two pilot wells to assess this potential but will defer production-oriented infill drilling.
It also plans to deploy the contracted rig for next phase infill drilling this year on both the Jasmine and Nong Yao fields, previously planned for 2024.
