RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil  Petrobras achieved a new presalt production from its fields offshore Brazil of 2.06 MMboe/d during second-quarter 2023, representing 78% of the company’s total output.

The previous high of 2.05 MMboe/d was registered in the first quarter.

However, the company’s production in the Brazilian post-salt was 9.7% lower than for the previous quarter, at 346,000 bbl/d, due mainly to the impact of field shutdowns and maintenance, the divestment of Petrobras’ interest in the Albacora Leste field and natural declines elsewhere.

However, this was partly offset by the startup of five new wells at fields in the Campos Basin (one each on Albacora, Roncador and Marlim Sul and two on Jubarte Pole).

Petrobras’ shallow-water/onshore production, at 48,000 bbl/d, also was impacted by shutdowns and maintenance.

In addition, the company signed its first hybrid support vessel contract. Batteries will be installed on board the vessel, with the target being to limit emissions and fuel consumption.
