SAN FERNANDO, Trinidad  Trinity Exploration & Production has evacuated the Bravo platform on the Trintes Field offshore eastern Trinidad following a generator-related fire.

Four operators were onboard at the time of the incident with two sustaining minor burns and all experiencing smoke inhalation. They have since received medical treatment for minor injuries and continue to be monitored.

The team shut down production from the platform and quickly extinguished the fire before leaving the facility. No hydrocarbons were released to the environment, Trinity stressed; as a precautionary measure, production was also halted from the Trintes Delta and Alpha platforms.

A multi-disciplinary has since mobilized to Bravo to assess the cause of the incident, the extent of the damage and the remedial measures needed to restore operations.

The damage appears to be limited to a generator with the platform structure and other equipment/electrical items said to be in good order. Replacement of the generator and associated repairs on Bravo should be completed within four days, followed by a phased production restart, on receipt of approval from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries.

Alpha and Delta crews conducted checks ahead of restarting oil production from their respective platforms late in the evening on April 11.

Bravo produces about 350 bbl/d of Trintes’ total production of 1,010 bbl/d.

Trinity has been operating and producing offshore the East coast of Trinidad since 2013.
