RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil  Petrobras expects to produce first oil shortly through its Anna Nery FPSO on the Marlim Field in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil.

The facility is part of the Marlim 2 Revitalization project. A second FPSO, Anita Garibaldi, arrived late last year at Jurong Aracruz Shipyard in Espirito Santo State and is presently undergoing commissioning, inspections and final tests. It should begin operating on Marlim in the second half of the year.

Petrobras also expects to activate the Almirante Barroso FPSO during the second quarter on the Búzios Field in the presalt Santos Basin. The platform is at Brasfels Shipyard in Rio de Janeiro State for commissioning/acceptance tests.

Another floater, Sepetiba FPSO, is undergoing integration and systems commissioning at BOMESC Tianjin shipyard in China ahead of service on the Mero Field in the Libra Block in the Santos Basin.

Last year Petrobras achieved a new record of operated production, averaging 3.64 MMboe/d. This was down mainly to contributions from new facilities: Guanabara FPSO (Mero Field) and P-71 (Itapu) as well as ramp-ups of P-68 (Berbigão and Sururu) and FPSO Carioca (Sepia), all in the presalt Santos Basin.

Four production wells are interconnected to the Guanabara FPSO, the first definitive production system serving Mero. The platform reached its nominal capacity of 180,000 bbl/d in January, eight months after first oil.

P-71 on Itapu should achieve its nominal oil processing capacity of 150,000 bbl/d in second-half 2023.

Other highlights for the company were a monthly production record for a presalt platform, the Carioca FPSO, which averaged 174,000 bbl/d in November, and a monthly oil production record the same month for a single well in the presalt, connected to the P-70 on the Atapu Field, of 56,500 bbl/d.
