SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has started production from the deepwater Cuica oil field in block 15/06 offshore Angola, through the Armada Olombendo FPSO.
Discovered in March 2021, the Cuica field is in a water depth of 500 m (1,640 ft), about 3 km (2 mi) from the Armada Olombendo FPSO. The development includes an oil producer well and a water injection well tied back to the Cabaça North subsea production system.
The Armada Olombendo FPSO has a production capacity of 100,000 b/d of oil and is designed to operate with zero discharge. Besides Cuica, whose production rate is in line with expectations, the Olombendo receives and treats the production from the Cabaça, Cabaça South East, and UM8 fields for a total of 12 wells and five manifolds at water depths ranging from 400 to 500 m (1,312 to 1,640 ft). The FPSO will also receive production from the Cabaça North field in 4Q 2021.
The Block 15/06 Joint Venture consists of Eni Angola (operator, 36.84%), Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção (36.84%), and SSI Fifteen Ltd. (26.32%).
