HONG KONG – CNOOC’s Liuhua 21-2 oil field in the eastern South China Sea has started production ahead of schedule.
The development, in 437 m (1,434 ft) water depth, is based on a new subsea production system with eight wells, connected to existing processing facilities.
At peak in 2023, Liuhua 21-2 is expected to generate around 15,070 b/d of crude oil. Associated gas is captured via the light hydrocarbon recovery system to reduce methane emissions.
