GODALMING, UK – Hurricane Energy has encountered a new production issue at the basement Lancaster oilfield west of Shetland.
On Monday, the field was producing 11,020 b/d from the P6 well with an associated water cut of 31%. On Tuesday, however, the electric submersible pump tripped, causing the well to be shut in.
The well is currently on natural flow while Hurricane investigates the cause of the trip. The ESP’s electrical system is being tested ahead of an attempt to restart the pump.
