SINGAPORE – Masirah Oil has commissioned an upgrade of production facilities on the Yumna mobile offshore production unit (MOPU) in block 50 offshore Oman.

The company is looking to raise the liquid processing capacity to handle up to 30,000 b/d from the three Yumna production wells drilled to date: Yumna 2 and Yumna 3 came onstream earlier this year.

The jackup Shelf Drilling Tenacious, which drilled and completed the wells, recently spud an exploration well for Masirah on the Zakhera prospect, 12 km (7.5 mi) south of the Yumna field.

Rex International Holding, which has a controlling interest in Masirah, also has a subsidiary in Norway, Lime Petroleum.

Lime will participate in drilling of the Fat Canyon prospect in licenses PL937/B, now expected to spud during the second half of 2021.

Fat Canyon is in a well-known Jurassic reservoir and has strong support from Rex’s proprietary Rex Virtual Drilling technology.
