OSLO, Norway – Equinor has received approval from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) for life extension measures at the Veslefrikk field in the northern Norwegian North Sea.
Operations can now continue through Dec. 21, 2022.
Veslefrikk, 30 km (19 mi) north of the Oseberg field in 185 m (607 ft) water depth, started production in 1989. The main facilities are the bridge-linked Veslefrikk A steel wellhead platform and the Veslefrikk B semisubmersible (for processing and accommodation).
The PSA has also authorized Lundin Energy to use the semisubmersible West Bollsta for an exploration well on the Merckx prospect in North Sea license 532. Water depth is 100 m (328 ft).
Drilling should last 32 days.
In addition, Lundin can use the jackup Rowan Viking for production drilling on the Edvard Grieg field in PL 338, over a 265-day period.
