RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras is heading for average production this year of 2.84 MMboe/d, the company said in its latest results review.

This is higher than its original target of 2.7 MMboe/d.

COVID-19 continues to limit personnel number onboard the company’s offshore production facilities, forcing shutdowns that had been scheduled for the current quarter to be moved to early 2021.

However, maintenance activities have continued. One highlight was an inspection campaign for pipelines prone to corrosion under tension caused by carbon dioxide (CO2): use of new technologies allowed continued operation of gas injection pipelines, reducing production expenses and losses.

The higher production is due in part to start-up of the FPSO P-70 on the Atapu field and improved operational efficiency at the P-74, P-75, P-76, and P-77 on the Búzios field.

This was supported by the temporary expansion of the platforms’ oil and gas processing capacity, using spare capacity in power generation and gas compression available until the start of gas exports; and high well productivity.

Last month, two Búzios wells exceeded 65,000 boe/d (BUZ-12 and BUZ-24, respectively with 67,400 and 65,800 boe/d). In August, gas also began flowing from the P-74.
