RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras says the P-70 platform for the Atapu field in the presalt Santos basin arrived in Rio de Janeiro late last month from China following a voyage on the semisubmersible transportation vessel BOKA Vanguard.
By opting for a dry tow instead of transportation driven by ocean tugs, the voyage was cut from 100 to around 45 days. Time is an extremely important variable for the return of a project, Petrobras said.
The new platform, due to come onstream before mid-year, is designed to process 150,000 b/d of oil and 6 MMcm/d of gas.
Also in January, the P-77 FPSO on the Búzios field reached its capacity of 150,000 b/d, following a 10-month ramp-up period since start-up last March.
Petrobras’ overall production in 2019 averaged 2.77 MMboe/d, 5.4% up on output for 2018.
Ramp-ups of the P-67 and P-69 floaters at the Lula field in the Santos basin helped the company achieve new overall production records from its fields of 3.1 MMboe/d in November and 3.8 MMboe/d in December.
And with the P-68 coming online in November, the company completed its implementation schedule for eight new production systems in less than 24 months, unprecedented in its history. In addition, in December, it reached a new daily production record of 3.3 MMboe.
This year Petrobras is targeting production of 2.7 MMboe/d, taking into account sales of the company’s stakes in the Tartaruga Verde field and others offshore Nigeria that collectively generated 86,000 b/d.
Finally, the company’s presalt production off Brazil reached 1.277 MMb/d in 2019, 28.4% up on the figure for 2018, and now represents 59% of its total oil production in the country.
