SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has started production from the deepwater Agogo oil field in block 15/06 off Angola.

Agogo was developed as a subsea tieback to the N’Goma FPSO, which serves the block’s West Hub, 15 km (9.3 mi) from the field.

Current production is around 10,000 b/d, and it is set to reach 20,000 b/d during the next weeks.

According to preliminary estimates, the Agogo field holds more than 650 MMbbl of oil in place, with a further potential that will be verified after the drilling of new delineation wells, the company said.

Discovered in March 2019, the Agogo-1 well was drilled in a water depth of about 1,700 m (5,577 ft).

The block 15/06 joint venture consists of Eni Angola (operator, 36.8421%), Sonangol P&P (36.8421%), and SSI Fifteen Ltd. (26.3158%).

Also, ANPG, the state concessionaire for oil and gas rights in Angola, has assigned block 28 to Eni (operator, 60%), as a result of the international competitive Bid Round 2019.

The joint venture will include Sonangol P&P (20% of share), while the remaining 20% will be assigned to a third partner during the closing of the contract.

Block 28 is in the unexplored Namibe basin. Water depths range between 1,000 and 2,500 m (3,280 and 8,202 ft).
