PARIS -- Technip has inaugurated its newest flexible pipe manufacturing plant. In Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia, the facility is built to support the growing subsea oil and gas sectors in the Asia/Pacific and Middle East regions.

Asiaflex Products, the company points out, is the first flexible pipe manufacturing facility in Asia Pacific and Technip’s third, complementing its facilities in Le Trait, northern France, and Vitória, Brazil.

The new plant will be capable of producing Technip’s entire range of flexible pipes, with a manufacturing capacity of 200 km/yr (124 mi/yr). The site is also equipped for umbilical production and will include an offshore logistics base. It will employ around 300 staff.
