South Stream offshore pipeline preparations under way

Gazprom has provided an update on the South Stream Transport trunkline project, designed to open a new supply route for Russian gas through the southern part of the Black Sea.

MOSCOW --Gazprom has provided an update on the South Stream Transport trunkline project, designed to open a new supply route for Russian gas through the southern part of the Black Sea.
Personnel responsible for the project's offshore section are performing engineering surveys and compiling project documents.
Discussions are under way concerning bid documents, and negotiations are in progress with potential contractors on buildingthe first string of the offshore gas pipeline section.
The construction schedule for the South Stream gas pipeline section through Bulgaria (which includes the eastern part of the offshore route)should be approved shortly, allowing implementation during 2013-17.
Work on the Bulgarian onshore section will start in June.
