OSLO, Norway— DeepOcean’s Mexican division will perform post-lay trenching works on 30 km of pipeline offshore Mexico.
The company will deploy its M/S Volantis subsea construction vessel, equipped with the 2,800-hp jet trencher UT-1.
To date, this system has completed more than 2,200 km of subsea trenching for cables and pipelines up to a 46-inch diameter. It has also achieved trench depths of up to 3 m in various soil conditions above 100 KPa and can perform backfill operations to support further protection measures.
Volantis, on charter from Volstad Maritime, sailed from Norway after an upgrade that included installation of batteries to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
DeepOcean has completed more than 300 km of trenching offshore Mexico on pipelines ranging from an 8-inch to 36-inch diameter.
