Cnooc takes 25% stake in Outer Browse basin blocks

CNOOC Ltd. has signed farm-in agreements with BHP Billiton Ltd. and Kerr-McGee Australia E&P Pty Ltd for offshore exploration permits in the Outer Browse basin of Australia.

(Asia-Pacific) - CNOOC Ltd. has signed farm-in agreements with BHP Billiton Ltd. and Kerr-McGee Australia E&P Pty Ltd for offshore exploration permits WA-301-P, WA-303-P, WA-304-P, and WA-305-P in the Outer Browse basin of Australia.

Cnooc has taken the 25% interest in each of the blocks through its subsidiary, CNOOC Australia E&P Pty Ltd.

BHP Billiton is operating the blocks, which cover 21,000 sq km acreage in water depth around 2,000 m, about 300 km away from the coastal line, northwest offshore Australia.
