Amarinth has refurbished and modified two of its API 610 duplex hydrocarbon condensate pumps for ADNOC at the Zirku Island site in Abu Dhabi.
Both pumps, supplied a decade ago, are part of the hydrocarbon condensate processing hub on Zirku Island, which receive production from the offshore Upper Zakum field.
ADNOC commissioned Amarinth to assess the feasibility of refurbishing the horizontal pumps to comply with more modern specifications and to suit increased capacity requirements.
Amarinth’s team designed new pump casings, supplied a larger and more efficient motor, and implemented upgrades to variable speed drives. These changes resulted in higher capacity while maintaining the existing baseplate and skid arrangement, allowing the new motors to fit within the original footprint.
In addition, the Plan 53B seal support systems and mechanical seals were reused and underwent recalibration to avoid further modifications to the pipework or fittings.
A phased approach led to the first refurbished pump being commissioned and restored to service before the second pump was taken offline, to maintain operation of the plant.
