TGS has completed its PGS24M04NWS seismic data acquisition program in the Outer Vøring area of the Norwegian Sea, using the Ramform Hyperion vessel.

Potential hydrocarbon play emerges in offshore Malay basin

TGS also has taken some credit for Petronas’ Bekok-Deep 1 oil and gas discovery offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

The well was drilled in May in an area covered by TGS’ Peninsular Malaysia 3D Mega Merge seismic dataset.

Analysis has shown positive results from shallow to deep reservoirs through Group I, L and M, with a strong flow rate during testing.

The company has also opened significant potential in a new play in the Malay basin, TGS added.

David Hajovsky, evp of Multi-Client, said the target had initially been identified based on vintage seismic data.

The TGS Peninsular Malaysia 3D Mega Merge project involved reprocessing field data and merging of more than 60 legacy surveys to deliver a seamless dataset covering a 40,000-sq-km area.

It integrates modern processing techniques to remove noise and multiple contamination, and features velocity model building technologies such as FWI, Q-tomography, well calibration and anisotropy.
