Ecopetrol, Anadarko join for Caribbean offshore exploration

Ecopetrol SA (NYSE:EC) and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:APC) will join to explore offshore in the Caribbean Sea, reports Bloomberg.

BOGOTA, Colombia –Ecopetrol SA (NYSE:EC) and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:APC) will join to explore offshore in the Caribbean Sea, reports Bloomberg.
According to the report, Anadarko will own 50% of Fuerte Norte and Suerte Sur blocks offshore Colombia, and the two companies have won a concession to explore the Purple Angle block.
The three blocks total 2.55 million acres (10,320 sq km/3,985 sq mi).
Plans call forseismic work over the next two years, with drilling at the end of 2014.
