Atlantic Margin 3D data to assist field studies

TGS (TGS:Oslo) and partner PGS have started work on a new phase of 3D seismic data acquisition in the Faroe Shetland basin.

ASKER, Norway – TGS (TGS:Oslo) and partner PGS have started work on a new phase of 3D seismic data acquisition in the Faroe Shetland basin.

The 2,000-sq km (772-sq mi) multi-client survey spans the UK/Faroe Islands offshore median line. It represents completion of the previously announced FSB11 survey.

PGS’Ramform Vikingis performing the program, towing 12 x 6,000-m (19,685-ft) cables with 75-m (246-ft) separation, and applying the company’s GeoStreamer technology.

TGS says the new 3D data will assist development of the Cambo and Tornado fields west of Shetland, and will and provide new data coverage across exploration blocks applied for under the recent27th UK license round.

Both companies will process the data, which will be available to clients in 2Q 2013.
