HALIFAX, Nova Scotia –Sable Island, Nova Scotia, digital 3D seismic data is available at no cost over the Internet, thanks to an Offshore Energy Technical Research Association grant from the province.

Collected in 1991, the data was reprocessed seeking a clearer ideal of the geology 200 km (124 mi) offshore.

"Our goal is to put new geological ideas in front of both current and potential explorers," says Richard. Hurlburt, energy minister. "This new dataset will not only help us understand our geology, it will build a case for further offshore exploration in the Sable area."

To access the 3-D seismic dataset, visit the Canada- Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board Digital Data Management Centre at https://ww1.cnsopbdmc.ca. Registration is required.
