Sercel, a Viridien group company, is deploying its Tuned Pulse Source (TPS) for an unnamed geophysical contractor in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).
The low-frequency broadband marine seismic source is being used for an ultra-long offset ocean-bottom node (OBN) survey that began last month.
According to Sercel, the TPS can generate a broader bandwidth with a reduced environmental impact to deliver low-frequency content and high-amplitude signals at frequencies below 3 Hz.
Both are needed for developing accurate velocity models with the latest elastic full-waveform inversion technology, the company added, when addressing complex geologies and deep targets with long offsets.
