OSLO, Norway— TGS has committed to a new seismic reprocessing project on the margins of the Central Graben in the U.K. central North Sea.
The company will reprocess 3,500 sq km of data acquired in 2011-2012 over the Greater Catcher Area quads 21, 28 and 29, using a broadband PSTM processing flow.
The focus will be on maintaining the AVO character of the data to allow for a subsequent inversion-based quantitative interpretation workflow.
TGS will deploy inversion-based de-ghosting, shallow-water de-multiple routines and a high-fidelity migration algorithm to provide the AVO-compliant regional benchmark dataset, combining the final results with its existing seismic coverage in the area to further understanding of the subsurface.
One of the main target markets is near-infrastructure exploration in the region’s prolific Tay sandstone reservoirs.
