PARIS – CGG has released a new GeoVerse carbon storage screening study to help carbon capture and underground storage specialists identify suitable CO2 storage sites in the northern North Sea.

The study, available for license, is said provide a detailed review of potential CO2 storage plays in a region extending over CGG’s North Viking Graben 3D seismic dataset, in UK and Norwegian waters.

CGG applied a proprietary play-scale screening methodology to identify and de-risk potential carbon storage sites. Storage play quality index maps, delivered through the GeoVerse platform, provide data to assist evaluation of capacity, injectivity and containment at play scale.
