Viridien and TGS have delivered final processed data from their multi-client Sleipner Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) project in the Norwegian North Sea.
The Sleipner OBN program was the second of two dense multi-client OBN surveys they acquired in the North Sea in 2023.
It covers a 1,201-sq km are that includes the Sleipner East, Sleipner West, Gina Krog, Volve and Utgard fields, and near-field exploration acreage that could lead to future tiebacks to existing infrastructure.
The survey, acquired between June and September 2023, employed up to three node-handling vessels, three triple-source vessels and various support vessels. It recorded about 2.8 million shot points into a total of 80,769 node positions.
Viridien applied its latest OBN processing techniques and time-lag full-waveform inversion (TL-FWI) to capture subsurface detail at all depths.
The image is said to show the improvement attained in resolution and structural clarity compared with prior datasets, opening insights into the region’s complex geology and reservoirs.
