PARIS – A consortium of CGG, TGS, and BGP have started data acquisition for Phase 1 of the Suriname 3D project, using the BGP Prospector vessel.

The survey covers an offshore area adjacent to oil-prolific block 58, and will cover up-dip portions of the same proven Upper Cretaceous channel systems.

Phase 1 comprises 11,100 sq km (4,286 sq mi) of 3D seismic data acquisition and 3,000 sq km (1,158 sq mi) of 3D reprocessing. CGG will process the multi-client data at its Houston subsurface imaging center using techniques including Time-Lag Full-waveform Inversion (TLFWI) and High-frequency FWI imaging.

Early products should be available from next April with final TTI Kirchhoff PSDM products ready from November 2022.
