OSLO, NorwayPGS has started work on Phase One of the Cyprus Vision offshore data rejuvenation project, in partnership with the country’s Ministry for Energy, Commerce and Industry.

Under the 14,750-sq km (5,695-sq mi) PSDM re-processing program, PGS aims to deliver a single data volume over various prospective blocks in the Cypriot EEZ offshore southern Cyprus on a common grid.

The project will encompass four input surveys acquired between 2013 and 2017.

In recent years there have been commercial gas discoveries in the region, led by Eni’s Zohr offshore Egypt, and Calypso and Glaucus, with potential for pre-salt Miocene sand-hosted reservoirs, according to Joshua May, PGS’ business development manager Africa, Mediterranean and Middle East.

Final PSDM re-processed data from Phase One should be ready in 2Q 2022, with Cyprus Vision Phase Two getting under way shortly afterwards.
