FORNEBU, Norway– Aker Solutions has secured a three-year contract extension, with two one-year options, from Perenco UK to continue operations and maintenance services on its southern North Sea assets.

The company has provided Perenco UK with continuous operations support covering 48 platforms and the Bacton and Dimlington gas receiving terminals since 2003.

The three-year contract extension, effective through to 2021, will see Aker Solutions continue to provide core crew operations, maintenance and craft construction personnel, as well as electrical, instrument and production technicians.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Aker Solutions as a group won 35 front-end engineering orders during 2Q, bringing the total secured for the first half of the year to 73.

Nearly one-third is for projects outside Norway.

CEO Luis Araujo said: “This year, we’re seeing more studies and front-end work for larger and more complex projects than last year - a positive sign of more work to come.

“As we have already seen at Johan Sverdrup, Johan Castberg and Troll, early involvement puts us in a strong position to secure more work.”

During the first half of the year, six concept studies led to front-end engineering and design (FEED) awards, while eight of the FEEDs were converted to full-fledged project work.
