Offshore staff
STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor has contracted Kvaerner to build the steel jacket for the processing platform for Phase 2 of the Johan Sverdrup project in the Norwegian North Sea.
Kvaerner’s offices at Fornebu, near Oslo will be responsible for engineering and design, and the company’s yard in Verdal will construct the 12,300-metric ton (13,558-ton) substructure. The NOK900-million ($107-million) EPC contract will create around 300 direct jobs during the construction period.
The jacket should be installed at the field center in spring 2021.
Kvaerner has also supplied three of the jackets for the first-phase sour-platform complex. Phase 2 is due to start operations in late 2022.
