ABU DHABI, UAE – ADNOC LNG has signed an EPC contract for the second phase of Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Gas Development Expansion (IGD-E) project with Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas and local contractor Target Engineering Construction Co.
Value of the contract is AED3.16 billion ($860 million), with half to flow into the local economy throughADNOC’s program of maximizing in-country resources.
Fatema Mohamed Al Nuaimi, acting CEO of ADNOC LNG, said: “This agreement is a significant milestone as we work across the gas value chain to further integrate our offshore and onshore gas systems.
“It will enable us to deliver greater efficiency and performance, maximize the value of our gas assets and pursue our strategic objective to ensure a sustainable and economic gas supply that meets Abu Dhabi’s growing energy needs.”
IGD-E’s second phase will take 54 months to complete and will add 245 MMcf/d of associated gas to the 1.4 bcf/d of offshore gas sent from Das Island to ADNOC Gas Processing’s Habshan gas facilities for power generation.
The full contract scope covers engineering, equipment and material supply, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of compression, drying and gas treatment units, power generation and other auxiliary services.
It includes construction and commissioning of a new booster compression train on Das Island with a capacity of 60 MMcf/d, two feed gas compression and dehydration trains (123 MMcf/d each), and two 80-MMcf/d amine-based fuel gas treatment units.
Tecnicas Reunidas is responsible for engineering and procurement while Target Engineering Construction Co. will lead construction and commissioning works on Das Island.
Work on the $11-billion Integrated Gas Development started in 2009, to enable export of 1 bcf/d of high-pressure gas from the offshore Umm Shaif field, via Das Island, to ADNOC Gas Processing’s onshore facilities at Habshan and Ruwais. It was completed in 2013.
Subsequently, Phase 1 of the IGD-E project was launched in 2015 and was completed last month, increasing ADNOC’s offshore gas processing capacity by 400 MMcf/d to 1.4 bcf/d.
It included the construction of gas pipelines, with a 117-km (72.7-mi) offshore and a 114-km (70.8-mi) onshore segment; condensate pipelines; and modifications to the Habshan gas processing complex.
