Maersk Supply Service to manage Culzean FSO transport, installation

Maersk Oil UK has contracted Maersk Supply Service to project manage the towing, mooring installation, and hook up service scopes for the Culzean project in the UK central North Sea.

LYNGBY, Denmark– Maersk Oil UK has contracted Maersk Supply Service to project manage the towing, mooring installation, and hook up service scopes for the Culzean project in the UK central North Sea.

The work scopes include project management, planning, engineering, procurement, and marine operations necessary for the transportation of theAilsa floating storage and offloading unit (FSO) from Asia to Europe. This will include towing activities such as procedure development, towing analysis, and installing the 12 leg mooring system with corresponding hook-up to the pre-installed mooring lines upon arrival of the FSO.

The project will be executed over a two-year period, with anchor installation scheduled for summer 2017 and FSO tow, mooring installation, and FSO hook-up completed in summer 2018.

This is the company’s fourth contract to provide both vessel and integrated services to customers.Culzean is an ultra high-pressure/high-temperature gas/condensate development located 145 mi (233 km) east of Aberdeen in license P111 block 22/25a. Water depth is about 279 ft (85 m).

Maersk Oil UK as operator holds a 49.99% interest in Culzean, with partners BP (32%) and JX Nippon UK (18.01%).
