CALGARY, Canada – Canadian Natural Resources (CNR) has started well abandonment at the Ninian North platform in the UK northern North Sea, where production ceased for good on May 18.

The company subsequently decommissioned itsMurchison platform in the same sector.

As for CNR’s remaining UK North Sea facilities, the focus continues to be on production enhancements, increased reliability and water flood optimization, with further drilling resulting in average production during 2Q of 26,304 b/d, up 14% from 1Q.

At the same time, the company’s North Sea quarterly crude oil operating costs decreased by 22% from the previous quarter to $28.86/bbl.
