PERTH, Western Australia -- Apache Energy has contracted JP Kenny for subsea front-end engineering design for its Julimar project in the Carnarvon basin, offshore Western Australia.
The development encompasses three gas/condensate fields, Julimar, Brunello, and Grange, all 80 km (49.7 mi) north-northwest of Varanus Island in water depths of up to 250 m (820 ft). Combined estimated reserves are 2.1 tcf, which will eventually provide feedstock for the Chevron-led Wheatstone LNG project.
The scope of JP Kenny’s contract covers up to 18 subsea wells plus subsea completions, tied back to the Wheatstone Central Processing Platform. It will involve over 25,000 man-hours of input, with the team also defining solutions for the subsea systems and 90 km (56 mi) of flowlines.
Apache has a 65% operating interest in the Julimar development project, in partnership with KUFPEC (Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co.).The first phase should be completed by October, with the second FEED phase due to finish in June 2011.
